Meet our team

Apart from being the “director of today” at Diacé, I am also, with my husband Nick, a full-time proud parent of my fabulous children: Hailey and Cédric.

Cédric has had type 1 diabetes since he was 4 years old. As a mother, you only want the best for your child. However, that can be difficult when your child ends up in an uninteresting medical world. Boring devices therefore triggered our search for fun accessories.

To our surprise, there were not many tools on the market, so we just started developing our own products. Since June 2021, I have been working full-time at Diacé, a hugely exciting step, but I don’t regret it for a second.

By the way, do you know where the name Diacé comes from? Quite simply, diabetes and Cédric! For Cédric, it is of course great that he gets to be the first to test all the products.

I am married to Stefanie and father of two beautiful children, Hailey and Cédric. When Cédric was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, we as a family had to get used to a new reality: we suddenly had to learn all kinds of things about his condition and learn how to cope with a chronic illness together with Cédric. Not to mention the practical obstacles, such as the insulin pump that Cédric has to have with him 24/7.

All those medical devices and a child who was 4 at the time didn’t match. So we started looking for solutions that would make life easier for diabetics, but we didn’t find anything quickly or we had to have it shipped over from, say, the US or Australia. That’s how the idea for our own company was born.

Originally, we started buying diabetes accessories abroad to sell on the Belgian and Dutch markets. But due to corona, waiting times became very long. Therefore, since 2021, we started focusing on our own production in-house. Today we can say that 80% of our range is made in-house. We source the raw materials for this from neighbouring countries to reduce our environmental footprint. For the items we do not make ourselves, we rely on external partners.

Hey there! I’m Laurien. I am a cheerful, enthusiastic and maybe a tad silly person. I love a challenge and will always give my all for my goals. Outside my work at Diacé, I am also self-employed in a secondary capacity. I assist both designers and students at the academy of Antwerp in pattern and sewing work. I recently moved to Edegem, where I now live with my boyfriend. In my spare time, I am a dancer and a climber. I am also a great artist. Meanwhile, I have been at drawing school for 18 years where I now take both Street art and graffiti.

If I have some time left over other than this, I like to use that time to make one more thing for myself or come up with a new little project to brighten up our apartment. I can really take pleasure in that. I can also enjoy an evening lazing on the couch with a good film or series. And for those who prefer reading to watching TV: sitting outside with a good book is also something I really enjoy!
